Anti-wrinkle Treatments
Do you want to delay the signs of aging?
Are fine lines and wrinkles making you look older?
Do you want to avoid invasive surgery?
If the answer is YES... then antiwrinkle injectables could be your secret to smoother skin.
Lines and wrinkles are a natural part of the ageing process, caused by the regular contraction of facial muscles below the surface of the skin.
A consultation for the treatment of lines and wrinkles will involve a dynamic assessment of the face; analysing the way the muscles are moving and contributing to lines and wrinkles on the skins surface. Where appropriate, various treatments may be recommended.
One such treatment offered are Botox® also known by the brand names Bocouture® or Azzalure® or Xeomin® injections.
The injections are carefully placed to block chemical signals from nerves and prevents the muscles from contracting. This helps the affected area to soften and lines to appear reduced, lines are not permanently removed. The injectable treatment is temporary and lasts three to four months.
What is Botox
Botox® Cosmetic is a prescription brand of Botulinum toxin type-A medicine that is injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe forehead lines, crow’s feet lines, and frown lines between the eyebrows in adults.
Botox is also used in other areas of medicine to treat a number of different medical conditions.
How does it Work
After years of frequent contraction combined with environmental and lifestyle factors, lines and wrinkles will form and eventually become permanent. Anti-wrinkle injectables work to reduce these contractions and lines for a smoother and younger complexion.
When you concentrate, squint or frown, the muscles in your face contract, the anti-wrinkle injectables (a natural protein) work by interrupting this process, leaving those muscles unable to crease the skin. It relaxes underlying muscles and as a result causes the skin to soften existing fixed lines and wrinkles and also helps prevent static lines from becoming established.
Botox can also be used off license to change the balance between facial muscle groups to create a lift, also known as the non-surgical or chemical brow lift.
Areas that can be injected (some of which are off licence)
Crows feet (around the eyes)
Glabellar lines (between the eyebrows)
Forehead lines
Bunny lines (lines on nose)
Lip flip
Gummy smile
Massetter muscles
Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
Nefertiti neck lift
The Procedure
The facial muscle positions, movement and effects are first examined and marked out for accuracy of Botox placement. The Botox is then administered into the marked areas using a very short super fine needle, this ensures if there is any discomfort, it is minimal
Local anaesthetic is not necessary as discomfort is minimal with the technique used but if you are concerned about discomfort ice or topical numbing cream could be used.
There is minimal downtime, clients are asked to keep in an upright position for three hours post procedure so as to prevent movement of the toxin to other unwanted areas (as this could lead to unwanted effects) and you can continue with your day (avoiding exercise, hot showers and spas) or go back to work as normal.
The Results
It normally takes 3 to 7 days to start seeing the results, although it can be as soon as 24 to 48 hours after.
At 10-14 days you will see full results. The results last at least 3 to 4 months and with continual use longer term benefits of wrinkle softening can be seen.
Some areas of the face (especially the glabellar region) the effects may start to wear off sooner - this is dependent upon the individual and the strength of the muscles.
Will I still be able to move my face?
Absolutely. We target specific muscles responsible for unwanted lines and wrinkles only.
Aftercare
You can carry on with your day as normal immediately after your treatment. Avoid anything strenuous for 24 hours such as going to the gym.
Side effects are rare, but occasionally some clients may experience bruising which fades quickly.
We also offer a free check-up 2 weeks later, so that we can review the results of your treatment once it has taken full effect.
